The Blue Angels were founded in 1946 to demonstrate the professionalism of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Elite groups offer racing to 11 million viewers each year, including the annual performance at Seafair Weekend Festival in Seattle.
Other maritime air performers will include the C-130 Fat Albert for Blue Angel Logistics, U.S. Marine Corps F-35B, U.S. Air Force F-16, P-51 Mustang and C-17 Globemaster III, among others.
The Blue Angels officers usually serve two to three years before returning to the fleet, while the enlisted staff usually serve three to four years. This year, several enlisted personnel have been rooted in Western Washington, including Brandon Wishard, a Fat Albert flight engineer in Tacoma, who helps transport road staff, supplies and equipment to each exhibition site.
In addition to the Blue Angel, the Apollo Mechanical Cup waterplane game will be held on the Sea Fire Weekend in Lake Washington. King 5 will play the Hydroplane Race final on Kong and King 5+ on Sunday, August 3 from 12pm to 5pm, and download King 5+ on your TV for free.
