International Advocacy announced that Weekend and Shakira will make headlines at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, with Terra, Ella Starr and scientist Maria also performing.
The festival will be held on the large lawn in Central Park on September 27, hosted by Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman. Other participants will be announced in the coming weeks.

Goal 1: Provide energy access to 1 million people in Africa
As Africa’s population grows, so does the demand for electricity, but too many communities still lack reliable energy. To address this, the Global Citizens’ “Scaling Renewable Energy in Africa” campaign aims to mobilize $1.5 billion to train 50,000 young workers in key energy skills such as solar installation, grid maintenance and energy services. The 2025 Global Citizen Music Festival campaign calls on governments, companies and philanthropists to make major commitments to invest in clean, affordable electric homes, schools, hospitals and businesses. In partnership with the European Commission, global citizens are catalyzing private sector investments in at least two major infrastructure projects worth over $500 million and jointly funded from governments including Denmark, Australia and the United Kingdom. These investments have the potential to bring clean, reliable energy to at least one million people across the continent, while creating jobs, reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the transition to green energy in Africa.
Goal 2: Mobilize $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of Amazon rainforest
To defend the planet, we must protect the Amazon from deforestation. Indigenous communities protect, restore and redevelop rainforests by growing food, making natural products and passing on traditions that generate new, profitable sources of income. Global Citizens and Reply: Wild is collaborating to raise $200 million to support the next generation of Indigenous and Community Entrepreneurs, a larger $1 billion program to protect and restore Amazon. The projects will help protect up to 30 million hectares of rainforest, about the size of Italy, and maintain more than 20 billion trees. The 2025 Global Citizen Festival campaign urges German, Norwegian and French governments, as well as companies and philanthropists to protect Amazon. Together, we can support more than 20 indigenous groups and help protect one of the most important forests on the planet.
Goal 3: Provide educational access to 30,000 children worldwide
According to UNESCO, 250 million children worldwide fall behind basic literacy skills. In response, Global Citizens and FIFA launched the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, raising $100 million to provide quality education to at least 100,000 children around the world by providing grants to community-based programs in more than 150 countries. Each ticket sold to international events has been donated to the fund for a sale price of $1. Through aggregation of donations from public, corporate and charitable donations, as well as matching gifts, ticket sales donations, this year’s Global Citizen Festival event aims to raise at least $30 million, enough to help 30,000 children learn to read and write.
The 2025 Global Citizen Festival campaign also calls on governments, philanthropy and the private sector to provide essential services for healthcare, nutrition and safe classrooms to give children access to educational opportunities.
Global Citizen Festival supports and works with nonprofits that align with missions across the five New York boroughs, including: Bowery Mission, Covenant House, Breaking Ground, CityMeals on Wheels, Henry Street Settlement, Henry Street Settlement, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Depository, South Asia Youth Action (Saya), South Bronx Unite and Win and Wine (Seelion, Inc). Additionally, global citizens are working with Goodera to drive 40,000 people to register for volunteer opportunities to earn points for holiday tickets by providing career development guidance to young people around the world, such as resume coaching and interview coaches.
This year, Global Citizens joined Giants as the official charity partner for the next top killer competition in the United States, with one of the outstanding performers set to take the stage at the Global Citizen Festival on September 27. The vote will be closed on July 31, 2025.
