On the standings

San Diego Padres (62-50, 2nd in nl West)

Padres has won two championships since the trade deadline, with seven of its last eight games reaching within three of the Dodgers in the division. San Diego is also currently the third-place Universal Card team, scoring four games in the Reds and the Second Metropolitan Games. Padres has lost to the Diamondbacks by one-seven of seven so far this year.

Arizona Rattlesnakes (53-59, No. 4 in the NL West)

D-Backs went on at 9-16 in July Corbin Burnes Lost Tommy John's surgery a year. Since then, Arizona has traded Eugenio Suarez, Josh Naylor and Merrill Lynch Kelly. The D-backs lost six straight games before Sacramento won the final two games.

Padres LHP JP Sears (7-9, 4.95 ERA) | If the season ends today, his home run rate will also reach a 3.34 strikeout rate (1.9 per 9 innings). Sears scored 5.48 ERA on Triple-A in Sacramento in 10 games, before starting at 4.55 ERA on 12 roads in trade to San Diego. His only appearance with the Rattlesnake was last year’s No Decision (6 IP, 3 ER0).

D-backs RHP Brandon Pfaadt (10-7, 5.11 ERA) | Last week, he gave up his season-high 11 hits in a 4-inch inning in Detroit. PFAADT has 6.55 ERA on the road and 3.68 ERA on the Chase Field. He had 3.24 ERA in seven games against Padres and beat them in eight innings in July.

Tuesday

Padres RHP Yu Darvish (1-3, 6.46 ERA) | He beat seven closing innings in his first win of the season last week against the Mets. He allowed only two hits and no hits. Darvish started with just 76 shots, the fifth since he stood out from the injury list. Darvish lost to Arizona last month, allowing two runs in a 3-inch inning.

D-backs RHP Ryne Nelson (6-3, 3.20 ERA) | His ERA of 1.95 in the last nine games led to Arizona's seven wins in that game. This includes allowing tough matches in five innings against the Padres in mid-June. Nelson has an ERA of 5.04 in his career against Padres in 48 columns.

Wednesday

Padres LHP Nestor Cortes (1-1, 9.00 ERA) | He made his debut as Priest after a deal with the winemaker last week. This is also the first time he has sent him on the injured list. Cortes threw 93 innings in his last rehabilitation match on July 24. Cortez's only start against the Diamondbacks last year, allowing three runs in five innings.

D-backs RHP Anthony Desclafani (1-2, 4.91 ERA) | The 35-year-old chose the Diamondbacks to sign in mid-June in a minor league deal with the Yankees. He allowed four runs in the 2-inch race on August 1 and scored the biggest in four innings in the bullpen. Desclafani allowed two runs in a 2-inch inning against the Padres on June 15, but he had 2.88 ERAs in his career against San Diego.

San Diego: c Michael King (Shoulder) entered the fourth inning in Sunday's Triple-A El Paso's first recovery. He shot 61 goals. RHP Joe Musgrove (Tommy John's surgery) held his first bullpen on Saturday – 20 balls, all fastballs. He hopes his progress makes him a bullpen choice for the playoffs.

Arizona: c Gabriel Moreno Can return from a hand fracture in the middle of this month, but 1B Pavin Smith (slant) and RHP Ryan Thompson (Trail) There is no timetable. RHP Corbin Burnes (Tommy John), LHP Tommy Henry (Tommy John), LHP aj puk (elbow) and RHP Justin Martinez (Tommy John) is one of the lost D guards this season.
