US Open 2025: Iga Swiatek starts the title with a win over Colombia's Emiliano Arango

The six-time Grand Slam champions won the Cincinnati Open (WTA 1000 WTA 1000) in this year's final and fine-tuned it in New York.

Just one day later, she joined Casper Ruud in a revamped mixed doubles event at the U.S. Open, and the two made it to the finals, but missed defending champions and doubles experts Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori.

Swiatek broke through her game against Arango in Game 4 before taking the lead 5-1 again and keeping the opening.

When Swiatek immediately broke his opponent's serve in the opening game, then broke his serve again on the seventh time and won the dominant victory in just over an hour, the ruthless form continued until the second set.

Swiatek will face the Netherlands' Suzan Lamens in the second round, ranking 66 in the world.
