Mayfield Police Chief Nathan Kent said the victims of the shooting that occurred Friday night in Mayfield, Kent is now in stable condition.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot near the War Memorial during a bird competition. An adult victim was taken to Jackson to purchase medical center and later taken to Nashville Hospital for treatment.
Kent confirmed Saturday that the victim's condition had improved. When asked whether the victim was in a “fair” or “good” state, the report was interpreted as “positive.” Police have not identified the shooter and are continuing the interview as part of the investigation.

After the incident, an article with Sports Broadcasting's Eric Chumbler showed that athletes from McCracken County and Paducah Tilghman gathered to pray for everyone in Mayfield and Graves County.
The Mayfield Police Department said Kentucky State Police, Graves County Sharif Office, Mayfield EMS and assistance from alcohol, tobacco and guns in response to the incident.

The counselor will provide all students and staff at Graves County High School Monday morning, Throgmorton said.
