A high-profile congressman is visiting New Hampshire, but she says she is not considering running for the White House.

U.S. Rep. Nancy Mays (R-South Carolina) said she is about to run for her South Carolina governor.

Mace spoke on Friday at the New England Parliament’s “Politics and Eggs” event, praising New Hampshire’s first national primary status while aiming to redirect any speculation about her own plans for the future.

“Not only did you choose the president, maybe you could choose the next South Carolina governor today because we will announce our run soon too,” she said.

In an interview with “Full Up” Mays said her national trip was about listening to other Republicans and bringing new ideas back to her hometown.

“In New Hampshire, the Legislature is doing something great – for example, protecting women and girls and becoming a fiscally conservative country.”

Mace talks about documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation that consumes Washington's craze.

“The other day, I voted for the release of the Epstein archives on the Oversight Committee,” she said. “But before we do so, I amended the motion to protect any potential victims who may be named in the document. Any child sexual abuse material in the archives will also be edited.”

Metz also traveled to Iowa earlier this year. This is a trip that will automatically get her to participate in discussions in 2028 or later.

“My focus is South Carolina now,” she said. “I love our state. I've married the job. But I do like to walk around and talk to different people from all walks of life, Republicans from all over the country, and that's what we're doing today.”

Analysts say it is not surprising if Metz eventually shifts its focus to the White House.

“While there is a lot of talk that she might run for South Carolina Governor, the truth is, I think she might be opening up her options,” said Neil Levesque of New Hampshire School of Political Science. “She wants to gain national visibility, which is why she came here to New Hampshire.”
