San Francisco – Lost 12 of the last 14 games this season, dropping to 0.500 by below .500, and the Giants suddenly appear to be spinning for sale mode.
The Giants trade veteran right-handed Tyler Rogers to the Mets in exchange for right-handed José Buttó, right-handed blade tidwell (Metros’ No. 10 prospect) and outfielder Drew Gilbert (No. 12 prospect) the day before the July 31 trade deadline.
News of the deal was first broken after San Francisco lost 2-1 to the Pirates in 10 innings in Oracle Park, which beat the club with a 0-6 host family and left the club behind Padres for a third-place NBA wildcard position.

The Giant received: RHP José Buttó of Prospect, RHP Prospect Blade Tidwell Drew Gilbert
Metropolis received: RHP Tyler Rogers
Right-handed Logan Webb said: “Ty is one of my best friends in baseball. “It's awful, we're losing someone like that, but at the end of the day, it's what happened. …I don't blame me [president of baseball operations] Nemesis [Posey] Do something like this. ”
The question now is whether Rogers are the only subtraction or the Giants’ sell-off is a bigger start (54-55), and they have scored 13-24 at 13-24 since winning three-time All-Star Rafael Devers in a blockbuster trade with the Red Sox on June 15.
San Francisco could also offer a quote for Camilo Doval, which showed its ninth inning in Wednesday’s ninth inning, reducing his era to 3.09 this season, given the high demand for back-end reliefers. If the Giants want to start shifting their attention to the future, waiting for other on-call free agents such as outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, infielder Wilmer Flores and senior right-hand Justin Verlander, may also ignite trade interest.
“We haven't added any reason to Buster and the front desk yet,” said third baseman Matt Chapman. “We did this to ourselves. It's awful. Obviously, you can say everyone is frustrated. It's not the way we see this.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but when you trade one of the best arms in a bullpen, I think this is where we are going.”
The 34-year-old Rogers, known for his unique submarine childbirth, has quietly become one of the most reliable relief workers in the national league over the past seven years and has ranked second this season with a 3.22 era.
Since debuting with San Francisco in 2019, Rogers has achieved an excellent 2.79 ERA in 392 relief performances. Rogers is an open free agent, perhaps his best season yet, recording 1.80 ERA in 53 relief appearances – tied for the most with Reds' Tony Santillan, which is the Giants' setter.
He is the twin brother of left-handed Taylor Rogers, who also traded from the Reds to the Pirates in Wednesday's Ke'Bryan Hayes deal.
The Giants don't have to wait long to reunite with Rogers as they plan a three-game series against the Mets at Citi Field on Friday night. Manager Bob Melvin said while losing Rogers that he believes the move is not necessarily equivalent to waving a white flag in the 2025 season.
“We're still trying to win the game here,” Melvin said. “We have a very deep bullpen and we've got a bullpen arm as well. It doesn't change what we expect from ourselves. But you also know we're putting the front desk in a tough place, and they have to look at the future and the present.”
Buttó, 27, recorded a 3.64 ERA in this year's Mets' 34 relief performances, despite his starting experience and possibly a candidate, which could increase the giant's rotation, while Landen Roupp's losses have been exhausted, who had a right elbow inflammation on the 15-day injury list, as well as Hayden birdsong, a triple-a's safety-apa to the the triple-a, whose torture rate is on the 15-day injury list.
“I'm surprised,” Bart said. “I didn't expect it. But I'm glad to go there and have a giant.”
Tidwell, 24, is the second round pick for the 2022 Mets, and this year's Triple-A Syracuse recorded a 4.10 ERA in 17 appearances (14 games). He has four major league appearances this season in New York, giving up 15 runs in 15 innings (9.00 ERA).
Gilbert, 24, is a left-handed midfielder who is the first-round pick for the 2022 Astros.
Both Buttó and Tidwell were added to the Giants' 40-man roster on Wednesday. Right-handed Sean Hjelle was designated to be assigned with corresponding actions.
