Tim David breaks Australian T 20th century record

  • by admin

Tim David beat the fastest T20 International Century when the Australians beat the West Indies 3-0 with five-pointers in five games.

The batsman ended 11 sixes and six quarters with 102 finishes with 37 delivery, with Australia scoring six wins at Warner Park in St. Kitts Bassetre.

Josh Inglis held the previous record, defeating Scotland with 43 goals in the century against Scotland in 2024.

“I just had a great time. I don't think I had a chance to get a hundred for Australia, so I'm excited,” said David, who played for Singapore and made his debut in Australia in 2022.

“The court is good and has a small boundary, so you have to support your strengths. Warner Park is a great place to hit the ball and it’s great to get experience in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League).

“I spent a lot of time hitting the ball, but now I’m trying to choose.”

Australia won the game and hit the West Indies with a bat, but the hosts got a good start. Shai Hope and Brandon King summed up a 125-shot opening booth in the 11.4-point game, and Captain Hope recorded 102 goals in 57 goals.

The West Indies continue to score more than 10 points with more than 10 points as they scored 214-4.

Australia's response was initially stuttering as they found themselves 61-3 after 5.5 points, but David's century spiked his team by 23 goals to win.

Australian Captain Mitchell Marsh said: “David didn't speak.”

This is a match between full members of the International Cricket Committee, and it is the third fastest T20i century in the thirty-first century.

David Millar's 35th-Century against Bangladesh in 2017, Rohit Sharma's feat against Sri Lanka for India.

David's efforts matched the efforts of Abhishek Sharma in India against England in February 2025.

The fastest T20i is Sahil Chauhan's 27-goal effort against Estonia against Cyprus in 2024.

Australia won the first T20 with three wickets and the second wicket won the second.

The fourth game is scheduled to start on Sunday (Saturday at 19:00 local time).
