This week's peak lighting, the Sky Crane Line can glimpse the full moon.
The full moon in August, also known as the st-fish moon, will be visible from Friday night to Saturday's early morning. According to Earthsky, it will be around 3:55 a.m. ET.
“The benefit of a full moon is that even if you are in a big city with a lot of city lights, you can really enjoy the full moon,” said Kelsey Young, head of the lunar science goals for the NASA Artemis II mission. However, for the most spectacular view, she suggests observing the moon far from the city’s light.
Even though the moon will peak late at night, it seems to have been full for several days, Young said. She added: “Even at a more reasonable time at night, you can peek out to the full moon, especially when you’re away from ambient light.”
Historically, the full moon in August has been known as the St. Fish Moon because it marks the easiest stfish to catch in the year.
Other nicknames from the August full moon from the Indigenous Tribes also indicate the end of summer. The stream is mainly located in Canada and knows it is flying to the moon, indicating the time during the year when young birds learn to fly, while the Assinibs, who originally came from the Great Northern Plains, called it the black cherry moon, marked when the cherry becomes ripe.
Pay attention to planets and meteors
The full moon will be accompanied by three meteor showers: the Southern Delta Aquarium, the Alpha Mocrizornids (Alpha Capriricornids) and the perseids.
Aquarium and Mori bone showers peaked last week, while Pelder showers are expected to peak next week. Under a full moon, the shower is unlikely to be visible.
But you may be able to glimpse Venus and Jupiter, which will be observable throughout the early August morning. The planet will appear close to the sky on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings – a bright celestial gathering.
In the second half of a month, Mercury will be 20 to 30 degrees below Venus on the horizon in the morning, Young said. You can also see Mars “if you look west immediately after sunset,” she said.

Moon and solar eclipse in 2025
As summer approaches, two solar eclipses will be held.
Depending on the time and date, lunar eclipses will be visible in parts of Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, eastern South America, Alaska and Antarctica.
