DEtroit – Houston Astros outfielder Taylor Trammell was evaluated for being evaluated in a loss to the Detroit Tigers Wednesday after crashing into the midfield fence in the first inning Wednesday.
When Dillon Dingler hit the depth center, the Tigers led 4-0 with no one taking the lead. The ball deflected from Tramel's glove before it hits the fence. Dingler ended up with a triple RBI, giving Detroit a five-game winning streak.
Houston trainers examined Tramel and began walking out of the field before kneeling. A shopping cart was taken out and he was taken into the tunnel to the right from behind.
Astronaut manager Joe Espada said Trammell was evaluated for a concussion after a 7-2 loss and was dealing with stiffness in his neck and back. He was scheduled to travel to Baltimore with the team Wednesday night.
This is the second time Trammell needs the help of a trainer in 15 hours. In the ninth inning of Houston's 1-0 loss Tuesday night, he landed on his back after a foul fly ball and had to be checked out before leaving the game.
