Start XI and Roster Note: Atlanta United returns in full swing, start playoff push

  • by admin

Atlanta United heads north to Canada, facing CF Montréal, the team's five stripes have already beaten in February in a 3-2 home opener.

Stade Saputo is a familiar place for Atlanta United. The stadium in Montréal was where Atlanta competed in the MLS Cup playoffs last October, and after a 2-2 draw, the 5-Stripes took a free throw by hitting 5-4. Starting today, XI's seven have also appeared, including Brooks Lennon and Stian Gregson, who scored two goals for Atlanta.

Although the base of the team that played in Montréal about a year ago was the same, Ronny Deila's team had more offense this time, while Emmanuel Latte Lath and Miguel Almirón led the attack. Both players have struggled in recent games, with Latte scoring two goals against Montreal last February, while Almirón set up assists to make up for the victory at that time.

Newcomers Steven Alzate and Juan Berrocal have available, tonight on the bench for Deila. Alzate is a dynamic midfielder who has just joined the club from Hull City, England, for his first roster since he received a work visa. English-born Colombians are expected to be exhibited at tonight's competition.

Cayman Togashi is on the bench on top of Jamal Thiaré, who is not allowed to be selected tonight after a stunning performance in Atlanta’s 4-1 victory against the League Cup last Wednesday. Nyk Sessock and fellow local Luke Brennan, who held a great match on Wednesday, was also on the bench, with the possibility of adding wings for the Deila attack.

One of the most interesting inspirational words for the original XI today is Enea Mihaj, who started defensively against the Type 5 Stripe for the first time in the MLS regular season. The Albania Center defender started last weekend in a League Cup defeat against Puma, playing in just 24 minutes in Atlanta’s 2-2 draw against Seattle.

Here are all the starters XIs from the Atlanta Federation’s visit to Montreal:
