A small earthquake rocked some parts of the New York City area on Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The center of the magnitude 3.0 earthquake is located northeast of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, in Bergen County, about 10 kilometers below the ground, USGS said.
Despite the relatively small earthquake, there have been reports of trembling parts of the area.

A security camera captures the moment a family is confused when the earthquake strikes. In the video shared by Gabby Atshan, she and her husband Sammy quickly jump off the couch, busy with confusion as they try to figure out what causes the tremor.
“What is that?!” I wondered when I heard Gabby. “Is there anything broken down?”
Other videos show the effects of the earthquake, including a dog waking up in a box being shocked by the noise, while another woman exercising on the floor was startled by the shaking.
“It feels like a car hitting a house,” WABC-TV reporter Darla Miles said during the tremor attack, adding: “With such a big boom, the house is shaking.”
Miles said she and her family immediately checked the windows and doors for damage. “That's what it feels like – the impact,” she said. “We checked everything and walked outside. All the neighbors were already there, asking the same question: 'Do you think?'”
According to Myers, the community is still inspecting the damage of homes and buildings late Saturday. As of that time, no reports or major structural issues have been reported.
In a statement posted on social media, New York City emergency management said parts of New York City may feel tremors, but there are no reports of injuries or damage in the city.
USGS analyst Xan Davidson told ABC News that while earthquakes are relatively few on the East Coast, magnitude 3.0 is not considered an important earthquake.
“We won't expect a lot of losses,” Davidson said. “It's just trembling.”
In April 2024, New York City and New Jersey were rocked by a rare magnitude 4.8 earthquake, which officials said was one of the largest earthquakes on the East Coast last century.
The earthquake features residents near Whitehouse Station in New Jersey and turbulent buildings from Philadelphia to New Jersey and New York City to Connecticut and Westchester in New York.
“Earthquakes do happen here, but that's not something that happens often,” Davidson said.
Davidson said people in most areas reported that Saturday's earthquake — reaching Connecticut — was not unexpected and had little to cause alarms.
