Shohei Ohtani is adding children's book author to his resume. Two-way Dodgers Superstar to be released Bait save opening day On February 3, 2026, it was inspired by his beloved Kooikerhondje decoy Ohtani, who became an informal mascot among Dodgers fans as he frequently appeared in Ohtani.
The book comes from publisher HarperCollins, written by Ohtani and Michael Blank, and written by Fanny Liem. In this book, the bait should be thrown to the opening day, but he forgot his lucky baseball and had to run too late to get it.
When the bait “throwsed” the first court in the Dodges home game in August 2024, the book is based on real events (and loose, of course). The bait was wearing a #17 jersey and ran the ball from the pitcher's mound to the ohtani on the plate, which made him the first dog to spread the opening court (not all, the game led to the Dodgers winning). Ohtani shared a book on Instagram with the bait next to the photo.
The game also marks the Shohei Ohtani Bobblehead night, with fans queuing for Ohtani and bait limited edition Bobblehead. After defeating the Yankees in the 2024 World Series 2024 World Series, the bait also accompanied Otani during the November 2024 Dodgers World Series parade.
