An outdoor resort will be demolished by the end of August.
Real estate general manager Jim Pazargad said Royal Resort, located at 99 Convention Center Drive, is now undergoing liquidation sales before demolition in late August.
According to the county, no application for a permit to demolish the property has been submitted to Clark County.
Pazalgard said that since 2022, the non-Gaming resort has been closed after a fire broke out on the seventh floor where guests smoke. The fire started the sprinkler system, causing damage to water throughout the property.
“The floors were all wet and the water went all the way to the basement. So we had to close the hotel.”
According to Pazargad, they tried to get the resort back to work, but their insurance was reluctant to pay in full, resulting in a decision to demolish it. After the closure, almost all employees were fired, except for some security guards and Pazalgard.
The clearing sale includes everything in the hotel: mattresses, lights, refrigerators, coffee machines, tables, etc. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday
“It's so sad to see the history of this building,” Pazalgard said. “We have the beautiful restaurant, namely Barrymore. We have a gift shop, just like any other hotel. Suddenly, due to smoking, thriving, it disappeared.”
There is currently no on-site plan after the demolition.
