The Boston Red Sox took their hands in the start of the pitching trade market. They have been linked to two Arizona Rattlers starters and are one of six teams that are said to be interested in San Diego Padres' Dylan stop.

They continued to look for rotation upgrades Friday, with the Red Sox trading with the Miami Marlins involved in Ace Sandy Alcantara, according to Masslive.com's Sean McAdam. Although the name has not been exchanged, Alcantara has already packed his luggage according to Major League Baseball insider Hector Gomez.
Alcantara's trading is a risk. The former Cy Young champion struggled while returning from Tommy John's surgery, and his era balloon reached over 7.00 at some point.

However, timing may be ideal for the Red Sox to reach an agreement with Alcantara. In two starts since the All-Star break, the right-hander has had an ERA of 2.77 in 13 innings, including a seven-inning blockbuster performance that dominated the final game against Padres.

If Alcantara can build his last two outings in the second half and become a more consistent version of himself, Red Sox should do his best to finish the deal.
Behind the reappearance of Ace Garrett Crochet and Lucas Giolito, Boston has no strong rotation to play against the league’s top offense in the playoffs. Insert Alcantara, whether behind crochet or anchor points, should be better established for the Red Sox to maintain its current wildcard rankings, if not strongly pushing the Al East Distion championship.
