Today, U.S. President Donald Trump plans to visit his two golf properties in Scotland: First, he met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Trump Turmberry and then headed to Trump International Scotland in Aberdeenshire, where he will attend the opening ceremony for his second 18-hole golf course.
This trip is the latest example of the president using the White House trap to promote and enrich his business.
During his second term, Trump showed a greater willingness to openly accept gifts from foreigners and foreign governments. And find ways to make a profit.
According to financial disclosure documents, the president has made millions of dollars from family members’ cryptocurrencies, foreign investment, private clubs and selling many Trump-branded products.
Trump made over $1.3 million from Lee Greenwood's “God Bless America” Bible, $2.5 million from Trump's sneakers and perfume, $2.8 million for “Trump Watches” and more than $1 million on the “45” guitar, a popular nickname referring to his 45th president.
Then comes Trump Mobile, a wireless service that includes a monthly plan and a $499 smartphone.
His company continues to conduct foreign transactions. Since the presidency, the Trump family’s business relationship with the Middle East has more than tripled, including several new projects since Trump returned to the White House.
Perhaps most notably, Trump accepted the Qatar administration’s luxury 747 jet as a “gift” to be used as Air Force One, which would be part of the presidential library after he left office.
