4:07 AM – Severe Thunderstorm Watch Extension
The National Weather Service has expanded its severe thunderstorm watch, which will expire from Saturday to Saturday at 6 a.m. and expand the Watch Zone to Wisconsin.
These storms have the potential to damage wind, hail and heavy rain, which can lead to local flooding.
3:50 am – Storm entering the Twin Cities Metro
A storm that caused heavy rain and lightning was pushing into the Twin Cities Metro. Twin Cities Metro does not have an effective severe thunderstorm warning, but it is actually a severe thunderstorm observation. Heavy rain, gusts, and perhaps some hail are possible, with 2-4 inches of rain per hour.
It has rained about 2 inches from Buffalo to Maple Lake. Hail was seen in some areas of Wright County.
The severe thunderstorm watch is currently scheduled to expire at 4 a.m. Saturday, but there are signs that it may expand.
2:35 am – Northwest Storm in Twin Cities
Sherburne and Wright Counties were under severe thunderstorm warning early Saturday morning. These areas are raining heavily and it is possible on the road. As of this writing, no flash flood warning has been issued.
If this trend exists, then in the next few hours, the storm may enter the Twin Cities Metro.
2:05 am – heavy rain, lighting
The storm is about 2 inches in 30 minutes, which can cause flash flooding. Many lighting is also part of these storms.

Saturday 1:40 a.m. – Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Severe thunderstorm warnings began to appear in certain areas of the cabin country, including Pequot Lakes and Crosslake, until 2:30 a.m.
Until 2:30 a.m., severe thunderstorm warnings were issued to the Elk River and Monticello areas

Friday at 9:45 pm – Severe Thunderstorm Watch Release
Much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities Metro, has released severe thunderstorm watches.
A scattered night storm can cause gusts, some hail, and even isolated tornadoes.
A timetable for what to expect
Minnesota Storm:
A cold front will farm in the state Friday night and could trigger a series of powerful storms that initially posed a hail threat to North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, but it transformed more into a wind threat as the night continued.
Except for Southeast Minnesota, the entire state of Minnesota is at risk of level 2 risk. The main threats to the system are over 60 wind gusts and 1-2 inches of hail and isolated tornadoes.
