Tampa, Fla. – Tampa Bay Rays put All-Star first baseman Jonathan Aranda on Friday with a 10-day injury list with a fractured left wrist.
Aranda collided Thursday with New York Yankees designated batsman Giancarlo Stanton.
Arlanda said the injury wasn't “disastrous” and he hoped he would come back this season, although the rays warned that he wouldn't be able to use his wrist for about three weeks.
Aranda's wrist was secured into the air casting and he planned to perform more imaging at the three-week mark. At that time, the Light will reevaluate his return schedule.
“Let's see how the bones heal,” manager Kevin Cash said before Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. “I think he's reimaging in about three weeks, but we're going to keep it optimistic.”
Stanton hit a soft ground ball in the fifth inning, and third baseman teenager Caminero was accused of shooting the ball on the wet grass. Aranda reached for the huge tossing of runner Caminero, his left wrist seemed to hit Stanton's left shoulder.
Aranda is an All-Star for the first time, with 12 home runs hits in 103 games this season. His benchmark rate is .394 and his .872 operation makes him one of the most dangerous hitters in the Grand Slam.
In the absence of Aranda, cash transferred Yandy Díaz to the first base.
The ray recovered Ha-Seong Kim from the IL and recalled Tristan Gray from Triple-A Durham.
Trade deadline acquisitions of Griffin Jax and Hunter Feduccia were active in Friday night's match.
