A source told sportsMatt Gelb. The Phillies' actual expenses are about $12 million, including the 110% tax they pay for exceeding the fourth luxury tax threshold.

Robertson, who turned 40 in April, held his team on the terms of his agreement in Providence on Saturday, but his deal may only be for the rest of the season.

The Phillies ranked 23rd in the Grand Slam that entered the bullpen era on Sunday. Their best relief man, José Alvarado, is currently suspended in 80 games for violating the MLB joint drug deal. Alvarado will return in August but is not eligible for the playoffs.

Robertson has never been in a game since late September last year. He spent the 2024 season with the Texas Rangers, creating a 3.00 ERA with 99 strikeouts and 27 walks in 72 innings. At the end of the season, self-represented Robertson rejected the end of his co-option with the Rangers, accepting a $1.5 million acquisition to test free agents.

Robertson will start his 17th season in the Grand Slam after joining the Phillies. He signed with the Phillies for two years, $23 million free agent deal in 2019, but he only played seven games before his Tommy John surgery. The Phillies traded with the Chicago Cubs for right-hander Ben Brown in July 2022.

Robertson's first seven seasons were the New York Yankees. He made the All-Star team with them in 2011 and rejoined them from the Chicago White Sox deal in July 2017.

In addition to these teams and Rangers, Robertson also sells for the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. Both the Mets and Yankees are interested in signing his team before the Phillies hit.
