Phillies announce deal with the Tigers, which will see outfielders Brewer Hicklen Head to Philadelphia for cash considerations. In the corresponding lineup, Philes designated the right-handed Ryan Cusick Make allocations.
Hicklen, who was designated as a mission by Detroit earlier this week, is now heading to the Philadelphia for the second time. Philadelphia had previously acquired Hicklen in an August 2023 deal with the Royals, and the outfielder did not get any MLB game time before becoming a minor league player after this season. Hicklen signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee in November 2023, and the novelty of the brewer's working for the brewer lasted until March last year when the brewer assigned him on the mission, while the Tigers acquired Hicklen in another exempt metal remittance.
Hicklen has played 10 MLB games in parts of three seasons (with 17 plates) including one against Detroit this year. He had a slash of 0.242/.351/.466 on his PA in 1598, and although his production in Triple-A Toledo (.227/.335/.394 in 254 PA) was more modest in 2025, despite his limited career, his career was limited, which was a higher speed. Between that foundational ability and his ability to play three outfield positions, Hecklen is a Philadelphia hiding in Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
