OpenAI announced Wednesday that it will provide its CHATGPT enterprise products to U.S. federal agents for $1 for next year, thus providing its technology to the federal executive’s labor force at “essentially cost-free.”

The company has been working to deepen its ties with lawmakers and regulators in recent months and will open its first office in Washington, D.C. early next year.

Openai said participating institutions will access their cutting-edge models through Chatgpt Enterprise, and it will also access features like Advanced Voice Mode for an additional 60-day range.

The company has launched the program in partnership with the U.S. General Services Administration.

“Helping governments work better – making services faster, easier, and more reliable – is the key way to bring AI benefits to everyone,” Openai said in a blog post.

In June, Openai launched a new product called the OpenAI administration and said it had received a contract of up to $200 million for the U.S. Department of Defense.

As CNBC previously reported, the company is currently in talks with investors about potential stock sales, with a valuation of about $500 billion.

Openai announced a $40 billion financing in March, with a valuation of $300 billion, the largest funding ever for a private tech company.
