Mount Rainey earthquake swarm saw

Portland Ore (KPTV) – All volcanoes in the Cascade Range show normal levels of activity, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey on Friday.

Mount Rainier experienced its largest earthquake cluster last month, recording more than 1,100 earthquakes since July 8. According to USGS, the group is being conducted at low intensity. In the past seven days, only about 50 earthquakes have been recorded. Scientists say this is a sign that the population is weakening.

Even if the earthquakes peak several times a minute, the group is not the cause of the alarm, scientists say.

“Mountain Rainier usually sees about nine earthquakes a month,” the agency said in a joint update. “These groups happen once or twice a year, although this is larger than usual.”
