Atlanta – Long Ball – Six of them to be exact – is all the Mets needed in Saturday's 9-2 series against the Braves at Truist Park.
New York scored all nine runs with home runs, while the Big Fly's storm had three home runs at the top of seventh.
Pete Alonso, Mark Vientos and Starling Marte received brave reliefist Dylan Lee in seventh place after Jeff McNeil improved the Mets 3-0 at the top of third place.
Alonso hit two home runs, Vientos back to back, and Marte scored his third shot in the game and later added another long ball.
Don't get knocked out, Vientos and McNeil returned to the back in ninth place, earning their 10th instance of the Mets this season.
After putting their season hits to 21 times in Friday's series opener, the Mets scored 11 hits on Saturday and beat the Braves 32-15 and beat them 21-9 in the first two games. The Mets also stole six bases in those two games, including four of Saturday’s first three innings.
“The way we played in the last two nights, we've been taking a lot of pitching, but also taking advantage of the pitcher's mistakes,” Marte said through interpreter Alan Suriel. “We've been playing the baseball brand that we know we have the ability to play. We've done a great job on the baseboard and are very active on the courts in the area.”
This is the second time this month the Mets have recorded six home runs in a game and completed the feat on August 12 at Citi Field, also against the Braves.
“I feel like we're doing better among runners in the scoring position, throwing the ball into the ball, using the whole field, picking up each other and continuing to increase,” said manager Carlos Mendoza. “Not only in the first few innings, we're leading 3-0 tonight, then 3-2. [added on] With Vientos and [Alonso]. We need to be a team. ”
Marte is walking, three stolen bases and one putt at home, Nacho Alvarez Jr. is the first putt from the left field since 2017.
Since August 5, the White Sox on August 5, 2023, Luis Robert Jr. Jr.
This is Marte's fourth Multihit game in the last eight games he started – he has four of his eight home runs this season.
“My way is to put the ball in it and give my teammates the opportunity to do what they do,” Mart said.
McNeil has appeared in the Mets starting lineup since Wednesday but has a sore shoulder but returns after a clean MRI. It didn't seem to bother him when he created a 420-foot three-shot blast at the club club Saturday, which gave the Mets all the runs they needed and tied with the third-longest home run of his career.
“[The shoulder] It feels good,” McNeil said. “It’s something we have to grasp. It would definitely be better to concede the ball today. I really didn't feel it when I was swaying, so we were fine there. ”
Starting pitcher Clay Holmes has allowed two hits in 6 1/3 innings since June 7, making it its first sixth inning to enter the sixth. Holmes said McNeal's two third-inning home runs were the game.
“[That was] Holmes said, huge. Especially there are two knockout guys there, especially in the scoring position. It's just a huge swing. It cheered us up and gave me some space to swing. That swing is a drama of the night. ”
The Mets (69-60) entered the series at Truist Park (they were previously 0-3 this season) with the potential to fall into the final NL wildcard position, but the series win and Reds loss mean New York will lead Cincinnati to Sunday's series with a 2 1/2 game.
