“Just a huge honor,” Thomas said. “There are a lot of praise for my teammates. They helped me get this tonight. But to be the first of all time, there aren't many people who can say that.”

Bonner scored a season-high 23 points. Satou Sabally scored 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Kahleah Copper scored 11 points for Phoenix.

When asked about the team’s current strong game, Thomas said: “Just leaning against each other.” “We have a lot of adversity this season, hurt and things of that nature. I think we’re just starting to hit the second wind.”

Sophie Cunningham scored 18 points on Indiana (17-14) three-pointers and hit five with eight points. Kelsey Mitchell added 12 points.

Caitlin Clark (right groin) plays Indiana for the ninth straight game.

Phoenix had a 53-44 lead early in the third quarter after Cunningham scored three-pointers on back-to-back property. However, Mercury answered 14-0, covered by a three-pointer from Sami Whitcomb to lead by 23 points, with 2:39 left in the third.

Indiana played more than four minutes in two-thirds and ended the quarter with 11 points.

The season series is listed as all and will be held on September 2 in Phoenix.
