Los Angeles – Loni Anderson, who played the role of an authorized receptionist for a struggling radio station on the hit TV comedy “WKRP of Cincinnati”, died a few days before his 80th birthday.

“We are heartbroken and announce the death of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” Anderson's family said in a statement.
“WKRP in Cincinnati” aired in 1978-1982 and was set on a lagging Ohio radio station, trying to reinvent itself with rock music. Actors include Gary Sandy, Tim Reid, Howard Hesseman, Frank Bonner and Jan Smithers, along with Anderson, the sexy and smart Jennifer Marlowe.
As the station's receptionist, the blonde and high-heeled Jennifer used her sexual attraction to deviate from the unnecessary commercial call to her boss Mr. Carlson. Her efficiency usually makes the station incompetent to others.
The role was nominated for two Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes.
Anderson starred in the big screen with Burt Reynolds in the 1983 comedy Stroker Ace, and the two later married and became tabloid fixtures before divorced in 1994.
Anderson's husband Bob Flick, daughter Deidra and son law firm Charlie Hoffman, son Quinton Anderson Reynolds, grandson McKenzie and Megan Hoffman, stepson Adam Flick and wife Helene, step-grandchildren Felix and Maximilian survived.
