Cleveland – Nolan Jones temporarily leaned back after Pete Fairbanks connected with a 1-1 slider on Wednesday's ninth inning, watching the ball pass to the right center field. It cleaned the wall shortly afterwards.
Jones made a single in the Fairbanks match, Kyle Manzardo released a single on his 10th as the Guardian got a 4-3 strike to beat the Rays.
The Guardians returned to .500 with victory (66-66) and lost three straight consecutively. They trailed the Mariners five games in a three-game series against Seattle this weekend in Cleveland.
You can understand the pressure valve issued with home run Jones, the 14,000th place in Cleveland franchise history.
“Obviously, it’s been a very difficult year for me. [I’ve been] grinding. ” Jones said.
The guardian bought Jones from the Rockies on March 22 with an eye to improve the mix of outfield and middle, but the 27-year-old struggled on the plate. Jones entered 115 games on Wednesday with three home runs, 29 RBIs and 26.8% strikeout rate (13th percentile) and entered .211/.307/.293 on Wednesday.
Jones's base metrics have solid base metrics such as an average speed of 90.8 mph (67th percentile) and his 46.9% hard hit rate (72nd). But he didn't end up creating the way he hoped, it must be a 2024 season game where he recorded .641 OPS in 79 games while also suffering from lower back fatigue twice.
“I have a big plan to get a year of big rebounds and help this club win, but that’s not the case,” Jones said. “We have a lot of good people in that locker room and believe in and work with them.” [has helped me]. What I want to say is that I exercise my butt on both sides of the ball every day.
“My chances have been limited lately. When I get these opportunities, I'm trying to do my best to use them and help this team win. I get it. It's been a tough year for me, but just trying to stay positive and rely on these guys.”
Jones started in 66 95 games (69.5%) before the All-Star Game, usually the left-handed Bat in Cleveland’s right-handed field. He has scored 19 games in 37 games since the break (51.4), while CJ Kayfus has scored 13 games since he was selected from Triple-A Columbus on August 2.
Wednesday was Jones' first start since August 19. His second-inning single moved Gabriel Arias to third base, followed by Will Wilson with a penalty single.
Jones said facing No. 9 Fairbanks, who tried to shorten and hit the middle of the field. Fairbanks are 85.8 mph per hour hang out on plates, and Jones has been out for a long way.
“I threw 13 goals,” Fairbanks said. “Twelve of them were good, and one of them went into the Cleveland Jet Stream 14,000 feet. [crap] Come out of it. ”
Manager Stephen Vogt said he was “really, really” happy for Jones.
“Nolan is very tough for himself,” Vogt said. “He works hard on the back. He cares a lot – sometimes it's a little too much. Nolan and I have a lot of conversations throughout the year, as well as our coaches.
“I think Homer's two hits today can really release a lot of stress. It can really help you relax and realize, 'As long as I'm in my heart, I can do that.' We all know Nolan's ability.”
Jones felt like he put the good volatility together throughout the race, including in the second game, when he arranged the start speed at 103.6 mph exit speed Drew Rasmussen.
Jones will hope to build development on Wednesday’s performance and help guardians stay active in the AL playoffs as they hope to push the final month of the season.
“Hopefully we can talk about it in a few weeks and say it starts a winning streak, and now we're looking for the playoffs.”
