put up Fantastic Four The futuristic version of Manhattan, Farahani all hopes for legendary architects like Eero Saarinen and Oscar Niemeyer and like Sci-Fi Classics 2001: Space Odyssey. The original Fantastic Four Cartoonist Jack Kirby is also a big influencer, future illustrators such as John Berkey, Syd Mead, Charles Schridde and Arthur Radebaugh. Farahani said the goal is to blend the stylish, sophisticated style of Saarinen or Niemeyer with the fantasy of the more whimsical Disney's Tomorrowland – with peculiar technology and talking robots.
Most of the movie takes place in Fantastic Four penthouses on the top of Baxter Building, and Farahani and his team hope to build a space that is a science fiction wonder, part of the Snug Family residence.
“We want it to feel like a home,” Farahani explained. “We want it to feel warm, like where our family lives, which is a little challenging because they are essentially in Manhattan penthouses. And Manhattan Penthutes is beautiful and eye-catching, but not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a warm home that is comfortable for a family.”
So Farahani reimagines the family’s apartment as a “penthouse” with warm wooden paneling, a cozy central fireplace and a sunken dialogue pit. The palette also distinguishes it from other New York's 828 areas: the surrounding skyscrapers are mostly silvery white and blue, but the interior of the Baxter Building is full of gold, brass and warm wood.
To make the house more popular, Farahani emphasized medieval materials such as slate rocks and houseplants. “You are bringing all these natural elements into it to create this place that doesn’t feel sterile or cold,” he explained.
