Gas leaks shut down the streets of the university station, prompting for evacuation

Texas University Station (KBTX) – The University Station Fire Department (CSFD) told KBTX A gas leak has prompted College Main Street to close.

A four to six-inch gas line was hit by construction workers, CSFD said.

The call came after 8 a.m. and the first responder quickly blocked the area.

Atmos has been summoned to the scene and repairs are underway, but CSFD said the repairs can take hours as the road has to be torn down to get the work done.

There are no reports of buildings in the areas north of the university and near Cherry Street.
