Former USF football coach Jim Leavitt

Jim Leavitt, former USF Bulls principal, found himself in hot water again after being arrested in Pinalas County on Monday night.

We know:

According to the arrest affidavit, Levitt attacked his ex-girlfriend at an ibis road apartment in St. Petersburg at about 7 p.m.

Records noted that he caught the woman while trying to walk away, and witnesses at the scene confirmed the victim’s description of what happened.

Leavitt is also accused of adopting a Louis Vuitton wallet, clutch and wallet worth between $5,000 and $10,000.

In that incident, Levitt was charged with domestic battery and theft.

Another affidavit of arrest Monday night stated that Levitt attacked a man at the same apartment building without causing any personal injury.

He was also accused of pushing the man to his chest.

The affidavit said the defendant pushed Leavitt to his chest.

In that incident, Leavitt was charged with a simple battery. The judge set the bonds for all three expenses to $7,000.

According to the USF website, Leavitt is the first football coach in USF history. He was hired in 1996 and led the Bulls for 13 seasons. He wrote the show's best 95-57 record while leading the Bulls to second place in 2007, with five straight games (winning three).

According to ESPN, Levitt was fired in 2010 after a school investigation found that he grabbed one of his players in the throat, slapped him in the face and lied about it.

Leavitt was selected for the USF Athletic Hall of Fame in the 2025 grade. The admission ceremony is scheduled to be held on October 2.

USF provides a statement to FOX 13:

“We know the situation and are collecting information.”

The other side:

Levitt's attorney Lucas Fleming responded to the charges after appearing on Tuesday.

“He doesn't think he did anything wrong in this situation,” Fleming said.[It’s a] Misunderstanding We hope to be able to make these comments and arguments to the state attorney’s office at some point, we hope to resolve them in a favorable way. ”
