According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Cincinnati Bengals are expected to sign former Atlanta quarterback Desmond Ridder. Ridder was selected by Atlanta in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft in Cincinnati.
The 25-year-old started four games in his rookie season and took over the starting job in his sophomore campaign in 2023. Ridder has played 19 games (17 games) in Atlanta, with 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in Atlanta.

The Falcons traded Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals last offseason in exchange for wide receiver Rondale Moore. Moore was released by Arizona due to training camp injuries, and Moore released the entire season, and the deal was not achieved.
The Las Vegas Raiders then signed the Cardinal’s practice lineup last season after the quarterback suffered multiple injuries. Ridder played six games with the Assaulters, starting a game against the Falcons in Week 15. In his career, Ridder has gone through 4,002 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The Bengals are looking for experienced backups from Joe Burrow. Not only does Ridder have the experience of starting, but he can learn from one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor also has ties to Ridder, initially offering him a scholarship in Cincinnati.
The Falcons begin training camp this week, with their first official practice starting July 24. Check out the team’s full training camp practice schedule and our latest 53-man lineup projection for the 2025 season.
