Los Angeles (KABC) – A driver was resolved and detained in the early hours of Tuesday afternoon after police led officers through highways in Los Angeles’ West Side in a stolen pickup truck.

The winding pursuit travels through communities like Santa Monica, Pico Robertson and Sunset Park on Surface Streets and briefly on Highway 10.

Los Angeles Police Department officials attempted to perform multiple pit operations, but several patrol vehicles chased after the suspect continued his escape. The driver also drove at least two spike strips placed on the road by authorities.

At 11:45 a.m., the pickup truck was parked in the middle of a street and the officer pulled out the vehicle with a gun. However, after a moment, the suspect quickly descended and the pursuit continued.

The man behind the wheel of the four-door truck casually placed his left arm on the ledge of the driver's side window, occasionally mocking the police.

Shortly before noon, he left the truck in Venice and took a few steps towards the officers. Then he opened his heels, flew back towards the pickup, and jumped back.

A few seconds later, the suspect stopped the truck and went out again. This time, he was swarmed by police officers, who put him on the ground and detained him.

The place where the truck was reportedly stolen was not immediately known.
