The Toronto Blue Jays did everything they could to send the Dodgers’ victory to Sunday.

Their pitchers gave up 10 hits, including two home runs. They walked 13, a season-high for the Dodgers, twice earning bases for free in the last two innings. On the plate, Toronto hit 14 times.

However, the Dodgers refused to accept the gift, giving up their eighth inning lead in a 5-4 loss, which reduced their lead in the San Diego Padres in the National League West by two games. Less than three weeks ago, Paders fell behind in six games.

“It's frustrating because I just feel like we shouldn't lose this game today,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “We took them on the ropes countless times. And for us, it's so frustrating not to win.”

How frustrating? The Dodgers are 10-10, with the runners in the scoring position. They left a season-high 16 men on the base – six in the last two innings.

Each Dodgers beginner arrived at least once. But they were still lost.

Afterwards, third baseman Max Munchy insisted that even if no one could see the black cloud, there was a silver lining.

“We are creating opportunities. So, you know, we are doing the first part,” he said. “We are not delivering on this today. What you take out of it is that we have found a way to create a lot of opportunities.

“You just have to get the job done.”

For rescuers, that's twice as much. Starter Tyler Glasnow was excellent, hitting 8 innings and allowing only 5 innings, turning to a bullpen that had to get 10 innings with a 3-2 lead. They can't do it again, and Blake Treinen and Alex Vesia gave up three solo home runs out of six batsmen.

“You give good batsmen in the middle, they'll do damage,” said Terrelin. He made his way to eighth with a one-round lead and later trailed five batsmen by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

“Sometimes we turn bad positions into outs. They cost me that it costs us.”

He is not the only one who has to pay. Because after Freddie Freeman tied the base of the match with his second eighth game, Vesia started ninth again with a score. Ernie Clement failed to reach activation on Vesia's first course, driving an 85 mph slider on the walls of the left field to lead Toronto. This is the 65th baseman Dodgers rescuer allowed this season. Only two cowsheds in the major gave up more.

However, the Blue Jays' generosity is not over, so Toronto tries to return the victory when reliefist Jeff Hoffman loads the base for shohei ohtani's base.

But lefties were at the 5.15 average after Mason Fluharty fouled two tough all-fee deciding courses, Toronto’s eighth pitcher of the day, Ohtani wielded a shot from a sweeper outside the area.

“The last thing I thought was that he was going to strike. …We had to come up with one there,” Roberts said. “Chasing the ball below is something we can't have happened.”

Mookie Betts followed by a force to finish the game.

Ohtani, in the first three innings, hit two hits, including his 41st inning home run this season, and his winning streak was the best nine games of the season, abandoned to try to steal third place with two outs and Freeman on the plate and ended another dodging threat on the plate.

“That was his decision,” Roberts said. “Not a good baseball game.”

Now the Dodgers head to Anaheim for a three-game series with the Angels before returning home to face Padres, which is likely under the power's lead.

The Dodgers have been staggering since July 1, 15-18. San Diego has been on fire, 21-13 at 21-13 on the same span. On the NL team, it would be better if only the Milwaukee brewers were.

San Diego had the most savings (39) and the best bullpen era in baseball (3.04), with the Dodgers’ rescuer ranked 21st (4.24).

And while the Padres got better at last month's trade deadline, making five trades that netted them reliever Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears from Oakland, first baseman/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn and left fielder Ramón Laureano from the Orioles and catcher Freddy Fermin from the Royals, the Dodgers barely tinkered around the edges. Stewart) gave up 6 hits and 2 runs in 3 innings.

Paders went all out. The Dodgers didn't.

Talk about it frustrating.
