Northern Ireland's Portrush – Chris Gotterup turns “House Money” into a potential rocket ship for his golf career at this week's British Open.
“I’ve been saying this week is the money for me for the house,” the Little Silverman of New Jersey shot 68 on Saturday to reach eight and tied for the fourth time, six shots behind leader Scottie Scottie Scheffler. “I don't even plan to come here a week ago. Everything is a reward. I'm totally expecting to do what I can and we'll see where we end up.”
Gotterup won the Scottish Open seven days ago, a life-changing victory, winning a spot in the UK open this week at Prothush. To say he takes advantage of it would be a massive understatement.
“I think my feelings have tasted a little over the past few weeks [U.S. Open] The Scots are open and something like that,' he said.

Gotterup, who played college golf in Rutgers and Oklahoma, said he was trying not to understand why he is currently strideing forward.
He said: “I just feel like I'm starting to get more comfortable. I feel like I'm starting to understand my game better and what kind of golf is needed in some places. I just feel like I'm always in control of my misses and attitudes.
“I don’t have an answer,” he continued. “I wish I had. I would have used it a long time ago. Just clicked on something and I would ride it as much as I could and from why the thing works well and put it in the back pocket and try to take it from there to every game and learn along the way.

“It has been a definitely a good learning process over the past few months and I feel like I’m putting things together and trying to figure out why it happens, good or bad, and using it for the future.’’
The 25-year-old Gotterup became one of the young players rising in the game. More things have happened in the past two weeks, and he may be inserting himself into the Ryder Cup conversation.
He refused to let his mind wander because there was a job to be done on Sunday when he would be one of the followers chasing Scheffler.
Gotterup said: “He has been the best player in the world for the last few years. I totally hope he goes out and plays a great round tomorrow. I will have to bring it to the last round side of the profession anyway. Not only Scotty, but there are a lot of great players in it.''
