Chicago power outage

As the temperature rises again, people enjoy some much-needed AC power without it.

On Drummond Street near Leclaire Avenue near the city of Belmont Cragin, the sweet sound of the working AC unit buzzed silently.

After a few hours overnight, the strength comes back because during this caloric consultation, the temperature hovers over uncomfortable levels.

“Oh no, now. It's hot. Can't open fans,” said Joann Maldonado, who lost power.

Joann Maldonado talked to ABC7 after he regained power and described how she felt at home.

“I walked out of the back door, opened the back door, and saw that the situation outside was very boring, almost the same,” she said.

Robert Flores said: “I said, 'Not us. Look. It's the whole community.'

Flores said he ended up sleeping on the couch for a night, trying to sleep in the hot heat before his big trip to Alaska on Friday.

“I'm worried it will be too long; I don't want to be exhausted and I won't have a good night',” Flores said.

In the early morning, comedians can be seen working hard to restore power as soon as possible.

“We did a lot of work to prepare staff to respond to the hot summer weather,” said Nichole Owens, vice president of comedy.

Owens said there were people who quickly responded to any interruptions throughout the time.

“We’ve drilled this,” Owens said. “We’ve trained employees on how to deal with power outages, especially with these conditions in mind to keep customers safe and keep our crew safe.”

According to the Comed blackout map, more than 800 customers in Cook County have no electricity compared to the early hours of Thursday morning, making a big improvement.

Chicago Office – Emergency Management is working to keep people hot in the city’s cooling centers. The cooling center is open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and is closed at 5 p.m. on two days, except for the location of South Giz Street, which is open until 8 p.m.

People can also find relief from city libraries, police stations and parkland buildings.

The best way to avoid heat-related illnesses is to limit your outdoor time, stay away from the sun, and drink plenty of water and liquids to keep it hydrated. People should also check relatives and neighbors, especially if they are older.

For those who can’t stay inside, or their houses aren’t cool enough, arreesoursours around Chicago help.
