Celtic Trade Georges Niang to Jazz for RJ Luis Jr: Report

  • by admin

Brad Stevens switched another deal on Tuesday, and the Celtics trade summer is not over yet.

According to ESPN, Boston is reportedly trading Georges Niang with Utah and joining two second-round picks for rookie RJ Luis Jr.

Niang, a Lawrence native, was obtained in the industry that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks in June.

Luis Jr., who was named Big East Player of the Year, is the second-team in the U.S. but struggled in the playoffs – he only had three of 17 points and scored nine points, the Red Storm of the Second Seed was frustrated by the Tenth Seed of Arkansas.

The move lifted the Celtics out of Niang's $8.2 million salary and put Boston well below the second-salary cap apron.
