Cardinal star won't return to St. Louis as expected

  • by admin

The St. Louis Cardinals not only deal with the consequences of the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline, but also involves injury disorders.

St. Louis is not going all out, it must be Nolan Arenado. With the trade deadline approaching, there are rumors that this summer may be the time for him to be moved. It's all offseason trade rumors early in the season, and even some chats.

Eventually, this didn't happen. The Cardinal retained Arenado but placed him on the injured list shortly after the trade deadline passed. Arenado was placed on the injured list to fully recover his shoulder. MLB.com's John Denton shared it in the aftermath, and Arenado may return around August 18.

“Nolan Arenado returns to Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Cardinal will take him through Jupiter, Florida, where 10-time Gold Glover will work hard to strengthen his shoulders and restore his swing rhythm over the next 10 days before rejoining Miami’s team in Miami on August 18,” Denton said.

This seems to be the case anymore.

Denton followed up and shared on social media that Arenado is no longer ready to set off on August 18.

“Nolan Arenado reported to the Cardinals spring headquarters in Jupiter, Florida on Friday that a shoulder strengthening is expected to be conducted for nine to 10 days before baseball resumes,” Denton said. “Oli Marmol said, “He is not expected to prepare for the STL series in Miami from August 18 to 20,” Oli Marmol said.

In the absence of Arenado, the Cardinal will have a chance to see young infielders Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese. When it comes to Gorman, this may be the last big opportunity for him to impress at the upcoming front desk to see if he will be a key part of this core move forward. It's a lot of pressure, but we'll see if he can live up to it for the rest of the season.
