Braves vs Yankees Preview: Atlanta Watch Joey Wentz

  • by admin

After Friday night entertainment and a very brave style victory in 2023, Joey Wentz will bring mounds to Atlanta and have a chance to win over the mighty Yankees in the All-Star Game.

Wentz returned to his draft organization after being traded for the 2019 trade deadline and bounced in the league. Since first participating in Major League Baseball in 2022, the giant lefties have been essentially an alternative level pitcher. He still has some fun pitches, but walking was a huge problem for Wentz, and his fastball took a huge blow. That said, he did make his debut in Atlanta's 3.0 innings, 6 strikeouts. The Brave almost made him chuck a bunch of knives and then mostly mixed fastballs and a few curveballs from there. While that's not the secret of a MLB starter, it's a pitcher who can spin and stay steady at once. He was still trying to find the area, but smelled a lot on his cutting machine. It would be fun to see Wentz’s entry on Saturday and their attempts to stand out from him.

The Yankees will start on the other side Will Warren, who has the look of a real major league starter in his young career, although walking is also a weakness for him. He has hit an impressive 10.75 batsmen in every nine innings so far in his young 118.0 inning career. Warren found great success, although his four shoes came from a rather low arm slot, despite it being slightly below average speed and shape. He has a real five pitch combination with sweeping, change, pendant and curve balls, all very strong, but has been shown a mediocre court opposite the MLB hitter.

Warren is a good pitcher, but not a world fanatic, and the brave offense should be able to connect with him, especially when jogging their memories of how to hit it in the All-Star Game.
