Skenes endured, perhaps beyond the hype of his arrival.
“It’s super special because you always hear, oh, this is the next prospect, this is the next Ted Williams, this is the next Cy Young,” said Red Sox first baseman Nathaniel Lowe. “It's like, he deserves the first place, worth the argument of multiple All-Star games, namely Cy Young.”

Lowe (1 to 1) and Alex Bregman (also 1 to 1) are the only SOX facing Skenes. This time the former will not be on the paternity test list on Thursday.
For manager Red Sox Alex Cora, Skenes is reminiscent of Prime Jacob Degrom. But it wasn't until his fifth season at the age of 30 that even DeGrom could develop into his Cy Young winning form. Skenes did this in his second season 23.

As incredible as Skenes Stat: The record this year is 8-9. The Pirates once again worked hard in the basement of NL Central, scoring the lowest score in the Grand Slam and providing Skenes with an average of 3.5 runs per game.
Some days, it's enough. Skenes allowed two or fewer runs in 22 of 27 races in 2025.
“I don’t want to say too much,” Law said. “I can't give him so much honor because he's a pitcher on an opponent's team. But he's good, it's no secret.”
Pitching plan
The Red Sox will call up Payton Tolle, the highest prospect, to call his major league game from Triple A Wercester on Friday against Pittsburgh.
Sox's choice to move Dustin may return to Saturday's day for the extra rest.
“Give him a breath,” Cora said. “It will benefit him. It's a move we need to take.”
Lucas Giolito will be brought together in Sunday's series.
The slat feels “super”
Justin Slaten returned from the injured list Thursday, Rest assured: Right shoulder issues confined the rescuer to three months – an unusual bone protrusion that forced him to nervousness – should not affect his move forward.
He described himself as “in a super good place now.”
“We want to think that now that we know it's there, we're going to take the appropriate steps to treat it, no different from what's going on during the recovery process,” Slaten said. “If we continue to do these simple things in the training room, in the waiting room, and in the preparations, that shouldn't be a problem. We feel very confident about it.”

Jhostynxon Garcia collected his first major league in a 3-2 win over the Orioles on Thursday, down his left-game average in the fifth inning against Cade Povich. He got the ball and the team provided him with a lineup card as a souvenir.
The outfielder has been at 5 points in eight days since his promotion.
“Thank God, I got the first one,” Garcia said through an interpreter. “I’m so glad I’m here today.”
Additionally, the Red Sox signed Garcia's roster card in his major league debut, beating the Yankees on August 22.

Richard Fitts will meet experts in Boston on Friday. This should allow right arm neuritis to land on the IL…Jarren Duran’s absence from the lineup on Thursday was a routine day, and Cora said…Lowe was allowed to miss a three-day list of parent-child habits. Cora said he didn't know when Lowe would be back… Garrett crochet allowed two runs and six hits (and hit two hitters) in six innings: “I feel like I'm grinding.” This was his first four-day break in more than two months, and he said it didn't negatively affect him, it was actually his preference.
