NEW YORK – Breanna Stewart is back after a month of scratching his right knee bone.
The free-star won 19 points on Monday night by 81-79 to help New York beat Connecticut 81-79, marking her return after missing 13 games.
“I feel good. I think I'm trying to get [coach] sand [Brondello] Let me play for more time,” Stewart said, “I want to push it away while I’m outside. It's great to be back with the team. ”
Stewart played for over 20 minutes, which was her limitation before the game.
“I'm working on helping the whole thing get easier and knowing it's very important to our playoffs, I've spent some time and been training people all four weeks,” Stewart said.
Sabrina Ionescu missed Saturday's defeat against Atlanta after a foot injury against Chicago on Thursday, and he also played against the Suns, taking a huge block to win after stealing the game in the sun.
Stewart last played on July 26, when she left for a few minutes against Los Angeles. Freedom advanced to fifth place with a 5-8 record in the 22-15 standings. According to Blundlow, Stewart imposed a few minutes limit on Monday night.
New York started its 9-0 season since it started hitting the ball with injuries. Jonquel Jones suffered two injuries and had a right ankle injury, missing over a month.
Stewart averaged 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season. She is also a defensive force, with 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Stewart told the media two weeks ago that she plans to return before her 31st birthday on Wednesday.
The defending champion has 7 games left in the regular season.
Natasha Cloud (Nose) and Isabelle Harrison (Concussion Protocol) both missed the game Monday night. Brondlow said after the game that Cloud had a slight fracture in his nose.
