Katherine Terrell returned to ESPN in the summer of 2022 to report on the New Orleans Saints. She left the company in 2019 after joining the Cincinnati Bengali native in 2016. Katherine, a graduate of LSU and Baton Rouge in Louisiana, Louisiana, has covered the NFL since 2013.

The team announced Tuesday that the New Orleans Saints will face Arizona Cardinals quarterback Spencer Rattler on September 7.

The Saints are the last team to be ranked quarterback in the 2025 season. Their decision came after a long battle between Rattler and rookie Tyler Shoough.

“We're excited for Spence, and Tyler is in a good position,” said Saints coach Kellen Moore.

Third-year quarterback Jake Haener also included in the game early in the summer, but it appeared to be a two-person game in training camp for the week. Sources told ESPN that Haina was exempted.

The quarterback game took place throughout the summer and seems to be completed only after the pre-season finale of the Saints’ pre-season against the Denver Broncos on Saturday. Rattler started a 28-19 loss and played three series with the first team after Shought brought back the backup.

Rattler is the fifth-round pick at South Carolina in 2024 and will begin his seventh career as the Saints host the Cardinal next month. He started six games and played seven games when he filled the injured Derek Carr in 2024 and started with a 0-6 game.

Although Carr appears to be ready to return due to a shoulder injury, he retired in May despite being led by new Saints coach Kellen Moore.
