This gritty historical drama featuring Tom Hardy is known as the “Best BBC Period Drama”.
“Taboo” broke into our screens in 2017, offering an eight-part series produced by Steven Knight, Hardy himself and his father, Chips Hardy, inspired by a story written by Hardy Duo.
The outstanding cast members who performed with Hardy include Leo Bill, Jessie Buckley, Oona Chaplin, Mark Gatiss, Tom Hollander and Stephen Graham.

The plot of “Tao” is summarized as follows: “James Keziah Delaney, a long-conceived adventurer, returned to London from Africa in 1814 to inherit his late father's empire of transport.
However, this is not everything, as Delaney encountered many enemies intending to make his life in England very difficult. ”
Ambitiously building a transport giant that challenged the dominant East India Company, Delaney seeks retribution for his father's death, ensuring a story of conspiracy, betrayal and violence.
As he strives toward his goal, Delaney must also carefully walk through the dangers of the maze to avoid the death penalty hanging from his head.
Screen Rant picked out the series in his review of “20 Best BBC Period Dramas of All Time”. “Tao” received positive criticism during its debut and to this day, it continues to attract audiences.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the series a 76% recognition rate, and with its critical consensus, “After a slow start, the taboo made it a mysterious, dark and often cruel period drama with great hope – most notably the outstanding performance of Tom Hardy.”
One critic praised the show: “Fresh unique, glorious offensive, and thriving with excellent costume design, incredibly talented actors and an exciting story, and an attractive story that thrives in a situation that attracts audiences.”
