He will still be on the hardwood, but he won't play in professional games, but on the sidelines of high school basketball. According to his wife Ayesha, this could be a possibility.

In the Call Her Dad podcast, Ayesha admitted that she didn't know Stephen would be an NBA star: “I didn't know he would end up playing basketball. He said he wanted to be a high school basketball coach.”

Ayesha, 36, also talked about how a famous couple influenced their relationship early on.

She admitted that in the early stages of her relationship with Stephen, she “had hated” her spotlight.

The couple met in 2003 and began dating in 2009 before getting married in July 2011, four years before winning their first NBA title in 2015. They have four children together.

She also told podcast host Alex Cooper that she advised Stephen to stay at school instead of entering the 2009 NBA Draft, where he was selected as seventh by the Warriors. However, Ayesha said she was glad he left Davidson to announce his draft.

“He ended up finishing the game anyway and continued to do it was huge, incredibly cool, and we never thought it would happen, so it was great,” Ayesha said.

Stephen averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6 assists in the regular season of the 2024-25 season and was selected to the second team in the all-NBA.
