Hot consultation, extreme heat warnings in western Washington begin Friday

  • by admin

It is expected to be the weekend throughout western Washington.

SEATTLE – The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a thermal consultation and extreme heat warning effective Friday, which could be more than 90 degrees before the weekend.

The high-pressure ridge to the south will expand its coverage in areas where the daytime elevated areas of the Puget Sound Area.

Most areas in the area are under heat consultation starting at 11 a.m. Friday. The consultation will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, the NWS said. During the same period, the cascaded foothills and valleys were under extreme high temperature warnings.

Saturday to Monday may see record daily temperatures in the near future. Gold 5 activates the first alarm weather for this event, which may affect life, property or travel in the Pacific Northwest. The first alert weather team will provide you with the latest information to keep you and your family safe.

Under most sunny skies, highs will enter the 80s, while lows will only fall into the 60s, not the 50s at night. The record for Seattle on August 22 was 89 degrees in 2018. We will approach this height on Friday.

During the consultation period, the risk of heat-related illnesses will be greatly increased, especially for those who are sensitive to high temperatures or those who do not have effective cooling or moisturizing options.

The NWS urges people to drink plenty of liquid, avoid sunlight whenever possible, and inspect relatives and neighbors. For asylum information, please call 211 during working hours or visit WA211.org at any time.

As we enter the peak of the fire season, the rising fire danger continues due to abnormal dryness and warming trends. Most people in western Washington are still in moderate drought, and long-distance weather models have not shown any signs of obvious rainfall.

Currently, three active wildfires are burning in Washington State. The Bear Canyon Fire has exceeded 8,500 acres, and as of Friday morning, only 11% near Lake Kushman in Olympic National Forest. Pomas Fire in Chilan County and Crescent Road Fire near Spokane are also staying active.

Apart from very warm conditions, the air quality itself is very dry, making the fire easy to ignite. Therefore, those planning to camp outdoors should remember that burning of any kind is highly discouraged and very dangerous at present.

Air quality is expected to be in a moderate range as wildfire smoke accumulates in the Western Washington area at least next Wednesday.

Looking ahead to next week, while most of the U.S. has some cooling, the Pacific Northwest will continue to remain warmer than average weather patterns.

What causes thermal consultation and extreme thermal warnings?

The King 5 Weather Team said the high-pressure area began to drift westward and built into the Pacific Northwest. This will cut off our overland winds and the temperature will heat up on weekends and weekends. Friday will be mainly in the 1980s, with the hottest spots in the southern sound entering the 1990s.

On weekends, we should see a hot press system near the sound that will form. This will give us winds up and down the west slope of the falls, which will help heat up the western Washington during the first alarm weather Saturday to Monday. That way, Saturday or Sunday may be the hottest day, in the 80s and 90s lows. However, the hottest attractions near the Southern Sound and Cascade Foothills may be entering the mid-90s.
