The Colorado Rockies released Austin Gomber on Friday, a left-handed pitcher who was a big deal to send Gold Gloves third baseman Nolan Arenado to the 2021 St. Louis Cardinals.
Gunber struggled this season, starting 0-7 in the 12th season with an ERA of 7.49 ERA as the last Rockies. His last victory was September 5, 2024.
The Rockies, along with four other players, bought part of the Giants deal, which sent a disgruntled arena to St. Louis in February 2021. The Rockies also agreed to pay a large portion of the Arenado contract.
Gomber made a 28-44 record in 125 appearances in the Rockies with a 5.31 ERA. He was originally selected by the Cardinal in the fourth round of the 2014 amateur draft.
In other moves, the Rockies chose left-handed Lucas Gilbreath's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled Righty Angel Chivilli. The team also placed Righty Dugan Darnell on the 15-day injury list due to inflammation in the left hip.
