Liverpool holds negotiations with Crystal Palace against Marc Guehi

  • by admin

Liverpool has held talks with Crystal Palace to move to Marc Guehi.

England International has not yet made an offer and needs to reach an agreement on players, and the 24-year-old seeks assurance in the mid-World Cup year.

If he doesn't move this summer, Guehi is expected to expire in the summer of 2025, when his contract expires because he has no intention of signing a new deal at Selhurst Park.

In the summer of 2024, Newcastle United hunted him, and the palace rejected four offers, with the final bid worth up to £65 million ($86.4 million).

Palace chairman Steve Parish said Guehi must be sold this summer after the club community shield beat Liverpool.

“We have to (if a good offer is made, it has to be sold),” When asked what the palace would receive a favorable offer, the parish said what would do. “For players of that ability to leave for free, that’s a problem. We had a bid (last summer), but Joachim (Anderson) went (Fulham) and we couldn’t afford the two defenders.

“We bid again in January, but it's also difficult. Players have a point of view on this. We have to see what happens, but a new contract or conclusion is needed.

“As far as people are here or not here, if it’s the club and their right decision – no one can let anyone go – then there will be some change, but we have to make smart people.”

Liverpool only has two suitable central defenders, Joe Gomez currently has only two. Captain Virgil Van Dijk recently signed new conditions with the club, but Ibrahima Konate's future remains uncertain, with a year left on his contract.

Arne Slot also lost Jarell Quansah, who joined Bayer Leverkusen for a £35m contract last month but has not replaced him yet.

Last season's Premier League champion also attracted many players this summer, an interest in Newcastle United's Alexander Isak. They signed Jeremiah Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

sports Liverpool also became interested in Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni and tried to convince the defender to move to Anfield this summer while accepting that convincing him to leave Italy would be highly challenging.

Guehi made progress at the Chelsea Academy and joined the palace in the summer of 2021 with a deal worth about £18 million ($23.9 million). He continued to make 155 appearances for South London Club.

The defender has been a big shot in Oliver Glasner and beat Wembley's Manchester City's FA Cup final in May (the club's first major trophy).

While at the Palace, Guehi became England's midstream, making 23 appearances for his country and playing a key role in the 2024 European Championship final.

Asked about the future of August 2024, Guy told the BBC: “I am really grateful to the club (Palace). This club gave me the opportunity to play in the Premier League, which many kids dream of.

“It provides me with a platform to develop and express myself.”

“Expertible experience in Premier League”

Strengthening the central defender department has been a problem throughout the summer.

Van Dijk and Konate are two hard-working and trusted players responsible for providing a platform for Liverpool’s championship defense, but reserves have few other reserves.

So it’s too much risk not to bring another experienced option to provide cover or increase competition throughout the season, especially when Liverpool show vulnerability in the preseason.

After defeating Crystal Palace with a 2-2 draw and penalty in Community Shield, Slot discussed cutting the number of goals admitted after delivering nine of the games in five games this summer.

The change in the defender changed the defense settings and the team needed time to get used to the new composition of the starting XI.

The slot also discussed the option of using Wataru Endo or Ryan Gravenberch as a temporary centre-back, but felt forced.

Liverpool need to join senior before the transfer window closes, and Guehi is ideal for his age, Premier League experience and improvement potential.
