San Diego – Padres third baseman Manny Machado gave a hidden ball trick against the Boston Red Sox, which ultimately made San Diego pay at least one game.
With Jarren Duran's third base, ranked first in the third inning, Machado still had the ball after Alex Bregman was arrested for a defeat in the last game. Machado puts Wandy Peralta on rubber on rubber and marks Duran near the bag.
Duran pointed to the mound and third base referee Scott Barry called a Balk, who scored Duran to lead 2-1 for Boston. Trevor's story rose from the second to the third.
Overall, pitchers cannot be placed on rubber because hidden ball handles are legal. If another player marks the runner when the pitcher stands on or crosses the rubber, it is a balk.
