Fever coach Stephanie White's latest news on Caitlin Clark's injury, possible rewards

Indiana coach Stephanie White updated Caitlin Clark's recovery ahead of Sunday's game in Seattle.

SEATTLE – Coach Stephanie White said there was no timetable for Indiana fever star Caitlin Clark to return to the court before Sunday’s game against Seattle.

Clark is traveling with the team on four West Coast road trips, and he walks into the climate commitment arena in a feverish practice uniform, sparking her excitement that she may get closer and closer to reward.

But White said they tried to recover with caution.

“We’ve done the latest news (from the training staff) and her recovery is going well,” White said. “You know, it keeps the course and makes sure we’re very diligent with every step we’ve taken and we’re not frustrated and we’re patient with that.

“I know she wants to put it on the floor and we want her to be on the floor, but making sure she is ready is the most important thing. I still don't know how far we are. We take a step once a day, once a day, and then walk from there.”

The fever tried to be cautious with Clark, especially considering that this was her fourth muscle injury of the season. Clark missed the preseason opener of the left four-circle and then had the left four-sided pull, leaving her for two weeks. Shortly after returning from the left four-side injury, she suffered a left groin injury, leaving her for two weeks.

A week after returning from her left groin injury, she suffered this right groin injury on July 15. Clark conducted more tests for right groin injury, while the fever was on a road trip to New York, which was without any additional damage to what was found directly in the original imaging after the injury on July 16.

However, given the multiple injuries she suffered around her upper leg/groin area this season, a fever would ensure she was cautious – both to make sure she had no setbacks in recovery or to suffer different injuries by returning.

It was also the first time Clark was injured in her five-year college and career, so neither she nor the trainees must know what to expect. Each player recovers from these muscle injuries differently, and without a roadmap or previous injury with potential timeline limits, they recover her physical reaction every day.
