Pittsburgh – Patrick Bailey and Dominic Smith played the rubber game against the Pirates in the first seven innings of the Rubber Game Wednesday afternoon. But when manager Bob Melvin called on the pair to hit the pinch duty, their team locked in a tense game in the later game, they didn't shy away from the moment.
The two hit a three-hit in the final two innings to get the Giants to win a 4-2 victory at PNC Park.
Bailey trailed the Giants 2-1 at the top of the eighth inning and led the inning with a base hit. Later, he scored from a walk from Rafael Devers, a single by Willy Adames and a sacrifice fly by Matt Chapman.
Later in one inning, Smith doubled Jung Hoo Lee against the Buccaneers’ second-inning hit percentage, and later pushed the Giants for the first time.
“[I was] “Try not to do too much and get a good pitch,” Smith said.
Smith grabbed the bat's first ball and made him feel comfortable. He then fouled from both courts and got one he wanted: he was able to drive along the right outdoor line into the middle cutter in the corner.
“It's just a fight mode,” Smith said. Smith expanded his winning streak to 11 games with a basic knock-on approach. “I really just want to do it [Santana] Fighting and hard work keeps me away. Like I said, it's just my experience in this case rather than trying to do too much. I finished my work then. ”
This is the team's ninth victory (9-46) behind the seventh inning. Melvin said he began to see his team beat the bats late in the game seen in San Francisco in April, 16-11.
“We’re talking about playing like we did earlier this year, and that’s how we avoided good reliefists earlier this year… of mass bats,” Melvin said. “Obviously, [Smith’s hit] Very big, [Bailey] Come out from the bench to get two hits and run. This is obviously a great recipe for us. Appears for us today. It has been lacking for some time. Hope it continues. ”
This isn't the only batsman who hit the crime in the middle of the order. Earlier in the game, Jerar Encarnacion beat Andrew Heaney on a mid-sized fastball in the start, taking it to the second level of the left field seat at PNC Park, bringing it to 442 feet. Although he later withdrew from the game with a right hamstring injury after taking root, it was Ensnatchon's second straight night by hitting more than 400 feet home runs.
After losing six games to the last Holmet (Mets and Mets and Spirites) after the Mets and Buccaneers lost to the Mets and Buccaneers, the Giants, at least for the time being, seemingly on the road with back-to-back series wins, hitting lows in the final homeland.
“At the end of the day, this club believes we can win and keep running, and I think that's exactly what we're trying to do,” Smith said. “Understanding once is a game, if we can win, we're going to stack enough series and then who knows where we're at the end of the year.”
Smith said the team struggled with overhead on trade scope deadlines. Now the Giants can focus on the court and he feels they may be ready to push themselves back to the playoff game.
“It’s a very talented team,” Smith said. “I know we have some young people, some older guys, everything mixes together.
