Popular streamer Duke Dennis was arrested in San Antonio over the weekend after authorities accused him of breaking into a local shopping mall.
Dennis, 31, was charged with crime and evading arrest, recorded in the county jail on Saturday, August 2. Popular content creators were released later on August 3 after encountering a $1,000 cash margin per charge.
Dennis sat on the floor of the mall, according to a video posted on social media. The floor above Cenat captures video of the incident on his phone.
The San Antonio Police Department confirmed to USA Today that the arrest stems from a hide-and-seek Dennis playing with another arrested suspect. Authorities said Dennis refused to leave despite security warnings several times. Authorities claimed Dennis tried to escape when police arrived and a second man was arrested for trying to “intervention”. Both were detained.
Dennis, who has accumulated millions of followers on YouTube and Twitch, is a member of the content group amplifier, which also includes Cenat. The other four members of the group are Imdavisss, Chrisnxtdoor, Fanum and Agent 00.
AMP (can be done anyway, the abbreviation is a collective of color streamers, each streamer has its own loyal fan base, who brings together their audience to create joint content, whether through online game streams or virus challenges. Once joined the group, Cenat plays to fame.
Neither Cenat nor Dennis shared a formal statement about the arrest, although the latter posted an Instagram story on Sunday evening, Sunday, August 3, the same day his release, accompanied by a black screen that read: “Formal on vacation, go where you need advice… See you later.”
His arrest was right after the amp's heels in the main month. The group camped in Texas’s large cannabis throughout July, broadcasting for 12 hours a day for 31 days.
