Quantum computing is no longer a science fiction novel. It is becoming the next area of defense and commercial innovation. And now, Wall Street is finally starting to pay for it.
Amazon (AMZN) said a major change in IONQ (IONQ), the U.S. Air Force’s record-breaking contract and Texas’s state-level legislation on new shares (IONQ). And, with several major players on the deck income, it's time to understand what this means – and how to prepare.
Amazon’s quantum ambitions are not a secret, but their latest moves show a lot. Amazon has just disclosed a $36.7 million stake in IONQ after unveiling the “Ocelot” chip (a breakthrough in reducing quantum system error correction).
This bold capital allocation was conducted in the latest 13F document, with IONQ stock being issued after get off work. But more importantly, this tells us the confidence of the organization.
Expert Tip: Before earnings on August 6, check IONQ's expected movement and Gamma exposure to measure potential volatility and price targets based on option activity.
The U.S. Air Force awarded IONQ a $54.5 million contract, the largest government quantum contract in 2024 to help develop scalable deployable quantum systems. This is a clear signal that quantum computing is entering a new stage of real-world integration.
Meanwhile, Texas has just passed legislation to establish itself as a hub for quantum innovation. This means a new competitive environment for support at the national level, academic partnerships, and investors focusing on emerging technologies.
All of this is happening justly, as major companies such as Ionq, Rigetti (RGTI) and D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) are preparing to report earnings. These reports are critical to assessing business progress, technology milestones and adoption timelines.
IONQ is accelerating its roadmap to failure-tolerating quantum computing, targeting more than 80,000 logical Qubits by 2030. Rigetti has just reached 99.5% fidelity on the 36 Quit system and is scheduled to be officially launched on August 15. D-Wave continues to improve its hybrid quantum/classic architecture for government and corporate contracts.
